Please encourage your child to tell you what is happening in the pictures and to ‘read’ the story to you. Ask your child questions about the book, for example:
Who is the author?
Who is the illustrator?
Can you predict what might happen from the title/cover/pictures?
How do you think the character felt when...?
Have them reflect on the story by asking questions like 'what was your favourite
part?' or ask them to retell the story in their own words or even act out
scenes from the story.
Maths:
In maths this month we are continuing to look at number bonds, the ways of making numbers 1-10.
For example, how can we make the number 5? 5 and 0, 0 and 5, 4 and 1, 1 and 4, 3 and 2, 2 and 3.
Encourage your child to show you the number bonds on their fingers, using toys or things from around the house. Practice writing the numbers 0-6 with your child and count regularly with them.
We are also learning the concept of capacity through exploration and the use of appropriate vocabulary, please use this language at home - full/nearly full/empty/holds more/holds less/holds as much as. At home you can play with your child to fill and empty containers and compare and order containers according to capacity
Library

Please note the mobile library will visit us every second Thursday so your child’s library book is due back on Wednesday 10th April.
