Maths for fun
Maths Week Ireland 2012 will take place from 13th October - 21 October.
We are making a special effort at Powerstown ETNS to mark the occasion.
There will be a special emphasis on Maths throughout the week and we will have our
annual “Maths Day” on Thursday 18th.
Parents and Guardians are asked to assist us by participating in “Maths for Fun”activities on the morning of Thursday, 18th.
From 8.30am – 9am, parents and guardians are invited to come into their child’s class and play numerous fun and simple maths games with the children. All the games will be laid out on the table with simple instructions to follow. Please let me know if you can come in Thursday morning!
Maths for fun is an enjoyable way for you to become involved in your child's learning which helps reinforce what they are doing in school. The type of maths activities we might run could include:
- number games with dice e.g. snakes and ladders
- card games e.g. snap, make 10
- colour board games
- shape board games
- number/shape/colour bingo
- copying/continuing/creating patterns
- maths trails e.g. going on a shape hunt
Further details will be advertised when we begin Maths for Fun but if you would be interested in helping out please let me know.
