Maths:
In maths this month we are looking at number bonds, the ways of making numbers 1-6. For example, how can we make the number 5? 5 and 0, 0 and 5, 4 and 1, 1 and 4, 3 and 2, 2 and 3. Encourage your child to show you the number bonds on their fingers, using toys or things from around the house. Practice writing the numbers 0-6 with your child and count regularly with them.
We are also looking at the concept of time, you can help your child at home by takingtalking about and sequencing events in first, then and last and using words such as yesterday, today, tomorrow. Practice saying the days of the week, the months of the year and the seasons with them. Talk to your child about when they celebrate their birthday.
Days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Months of the year: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December
Seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter
We will also be learning to read the time in one hour intervals. Please help your child to read the time at home showing them all of the o'clock times e.g. 1 o'clock, 2 o'clock etc.
Library Book:
Please note the mobile library will visit us every second Thursday so your child’s library book is due back on Wednesday 21st November.
