January News
Welcome to the current news page! Each month I will update this page with news and events taking place in
school.
Mobile Library:
The mobile library will return on Thursday 10th January, please ensure your child has returned their current book to the school for Wednesday 9th January.
Homework:
I have updated the homework section of the blog with January homework. Please ensure you practice the letter sounds and reading with your child every night. If your child is experiencing any problems or is finding the homework not challenging enough please let me know.
Please note that homework folders and books must be brought into school every day for checking.
GAA Coaching:
James Costello will resume GAA football coaching with the children on Wednesday 16th January. Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for outdoor sports activity i.e. a tracksuit and runners and that they have a drink with them.
Aistear:
The theme for January is 'The Hospital'. We are learning through play in dramatic role-play, reading, writing, junk art and construction stations. Each day we get to pick which station we work at.
Please continue to bring in old cardboard boxes, toilet rolls, scrap paper etc. to keep us going in our
junk art station! Please see the parental involvement section under 'more...' for details of the items we
would like your help in sourcing for our Aistear stations. The junk art the children create each day will
be sent home on that day.
Shared Reading:
Thank you also
to the parents who have come in so far for shared reading on Monday mornings. All parents are welcome to join us 8.30-8.40am every Monday. We would also love to hear stories in other languages so if you have any children's story books at home that you would like to share with us in another language we would
love to hear them too!
Learn Together:
We are learning about Ethics and the Environment this month and will be continuing our work for the green schools flag.
