Gaeilge (Irish)
In Senior Infants the Gaeilge curriculum is taught through oral language, there is no reading or written work at this stage. The children learn through a combination of comhrá (conversation), amhráin (songs), and rainn (rhymes). They also complete various listening and responding activities to ensure comprehension. We use the Sin é programme in Powerstown ETNS which uses workbooks, CD, visual aids, and big books to consolidate learning. We also celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge annually in March and learn new colours (dathanna) and phrases (frásaí na seachtaine) weekly which will be posted in the news section of the website for you each week.
