Can you predict what might happen from the
title/cover/pictures?
How do you think the character felt when...?
Have
them reflect on the story by asking questions like 'what was your favourite
part?' or ask them to retell the story in their own words or even act out scenes
from the story.
Maths:
In maths this month we are looking at number bonds, the ways of making numbers 1-7. For
example, how can we make the number 5? 5 and 0, 0 and 5, 4 and 1, 1 and 4, 3 and 2, 2 and 3. Encourage your child to show you the number bonds on their fingers, using toys or things from around the house. Practice writing the numbers 0-6 with your child and count regularly with them.
We are also looking at the concept of 3D shape; the cube, cuboid, cylinder and sphere. Please talk with your child about the shape of everyday objects they may find at home e.g. building blocks may be cubes or cuboids, pringles boxes or vitamin tablet bottles are cylinders, a football or orange are spheres and objects such as lunch boxes, shoe boxes are cuboids. Discuss and test with your child which shapes can roll and can't roll. Count the number of faces and edges on the shapes.
Library Book:
Please note the
mobile library will visit us every second Thursday so your child’s library book is due back on Wednesday 19th December.
